Slow loading websites are still the number one reason why people leave a website before buying, here are some flags for what might be slowing down your website.
The top 5 reasons a website loads slow:
- The amount and size of resources on the web page like widgets, link lists, images, videos. The browser has to rethink for each item so it is better to use a similar theme for each web page.
- Images and Videos that are not properly optimized and re-sized is a very close second. There is free tools online if you do not have a program to compress your videos and images.
- The database search executed while the site loads. Static pages always load faster then database driven web pages so try to use as many static web pages as possible. Most blogs have a plug-ins to make their pages static just for this reason and because static websites is more reliable then a database driven site.
- Flash driven sites are known for lagging and sometimes crashing browsers, try to only use flash for videos, tutorials, banners, headers, and examples. Full flash sites will put you in the lowest loading speed category quick.
- Overloaded servers can cause site slow downs. If you have a dedicated server you might want to keep your high resource sites to about 5 to server around there the speed of the server can be effected. Also contacting Baithost to have us look over the server for free is a good way to make sure the server is as fast as possible. Be careful with mass budget hosting, they tend to overload their servers to make up for their cheap costs.

iMeet – Talk to strangers! // BETA
Posted on 15. Jan, 2010 by xDragonZ.

There are many ways to meet new people on the internet. There are sites where you can get to meet new people from any part in the world. You can chat, you can talk, you can email, and many other things. The truth is that this site is a new concept when it comes to getting in touch with other people.
This online resource was specially created in order to give you the opportunity to meet new friends online. The way the system works is very simple. It just picks another user randomly and establishes a one-on-one chat. In this way the system simulates the normal way in which you can meet a new person.
Imagine you are walking down the street and somebody asks you a question. You answer, you may establish a conversation and chance might lead you to establish a friendship. The system works in the same way, with the difference that you will get to do this online.
These chats are anonymous, and you can feel free to chat with a new stranger and then if you want, you can reveal your personal details in order to go forward.
This site is very easy to use and to navigate through, and it gives you simple options so you can start chatting with other people. In case you want more information about this online resource, feel free to open this online portal at http://www.angnetwork.com/imeet/
iMeet is a unique website that combines the idea of randomly meeting and chatting with someone one-on-one with the new idea of being able to publish and rate conversations.
Thus, we have effectively taken ideas from a vast number of previously existing web concepts and put them together to create the ultimate site, which, really has no current web definition. We liken it to an “open source conversationalism social network”, but feel free to attempt to coin a better descriptive phrase.

Unlock Google Nexus One Phone Bootloader
Posted on 10. Jan, 2010 by xDragonZ.
We informed you about the Google Nexus
One when it was rooted even before the official launch. This was possible because of the engineering bootloader which was shipped with pre-release Nexus One devices. The retail devices have locked bootloaders but Paul at Modaco forums has managed to unlock it so that you can root your retail Nexus One for full file system access on Android 2.1.
You can follow the step by step guide posted below (on your own risk) to unlock the bootloader on the Google Nexus One phone. We are not to be held responsible if you ended up bricking your phone. The steps are as follows.
Step 1: Download and extract fastboot from here (Windows, Linux and Mac included).
Step 2: Run a command prompt / terminal at the directory you just extracted.
Step 3: Type ‘fastboot-windows oem unlock’ or ‘./fastboot-mac oem unlock’ or ‘./fastboot-linux oem unlock’ (as appropriate).
Step 4: Proceed on your merry bootloader unlocked way.
You can follow the step by step guide posted below (on your own risk) to unlock the bootloader on the Google Nexus One phone. We are not to be held responsible if you ended up bricking your phone.

Ghost Online also known as Ghost Soul and GO is a free fast paced action-based sidescrolling, massively multiplayer online role-playing game that is currently released in South Korea, Japanese, Chinese, and Malaysian-English. On July 8, the Global version went into Open Beta, but was closed down on June 3, 2009. Created by Netgame, which is a division of MGame USA Inc.(Taiwan and China 搞鬼 is a free, 2D computer graphics, side-scrolling MMORPG developed by the Korean company MGame. Several versions of the game are available for specific countries or regions, and each is published by various companies such as GameFlier, Gemscool and OurGame. Although playing the game is free, many player appearances and gameplay enhancements can be purchased from the GhostShop using real currency.
In the game, players defend the “World” from ghost monsters and develop their character’s skills and abilities, as in typical role-playing games. There is a soul system that allows players absorb souls from monsters. Players can interact with others in many ways, such as through chatting, trading. Groups of players can band together in parties to hunt monsters, and share the rewards. Players can fight each other with the game PvP system. Players can also band in a guild to battle with other guilds. Ghost Online also many quests, some of which allow the player to obtain new skills.

Shut down
As of June 3rd, 2009, the game was shut down ( USA version ), with 2 other games, which are Legend of Ares and Holic online, by Mgame usa. The reason for termination was because the three games where not producing enough revenue, and with the rise of bots, hacks, and gold sellers, players simply left the game. Some say the bot/ real player ratio to the game was 9/1. Mgame offered to Transfer guilds of players, along with giving them Ncash worth $20 (Virtual cash, see Nexon Cash) to their other game, Hero online.
Unfortunately, Ghost Online Malayssia was shut down on the 31st of August, 2009. There are currently no english servers.

Should we stop masking passwords?
Posted on 29. Dec, 2009 by xDragonZ.

A few days ago, Jakob Nielsen posted an article in which he recommended displaying passwords in plain text instead of masking them. You should read the article if you haven’t already. I’ve read some of the reactions on the Internet and I think people are so passionate about this topic. Here are a few of my thoughts on this problem.
People often mistype passwords
If you ever performed usability testing you will know this true. Sometimes it can take users 30 or more seconds for a simple login activity! And that can be frustrating. However I think this goes far beyond simple mistyping.
Password managers
I believe we all agree that password masking is necessary for public/shared computers. But there is really simple solution for non-shared computers: password managers that are integral part of browsers. Just think this way: how many times you actually type your password on a home computer?
People are paranoid
Is plain text passwords what users would expect? How would avarage user behave in case of typing plaintext password? People feel uncomfortable, even paranoid, when leaving sensitive data and that includes passwords. Offices are often shared with one or more employees so looking over a shoulder is very common practice. No matter how reasonable it actually is, masking passwords at least gives the feel of privacy.
Optional masking
As one of the solutions, Jakob suggested adding a checkbox that can turn masking on/off. Making too many options could make authentication process painful for users. Imagine that some websites mask password, other don’t. Some even have optional masking. Some keep last typed key for a second. Some use a combination of those. Real mess if you ask me.
iPhone solution
iPhone has an interesting solution (or solution attempt) to this problem. It keeps the last typed character for a short time and then converts it to bullet. It might help you during typing but it doesn’t resolve “shoulder surfing” problem that is present.
Some other solutions?
Unfortunately and fortunately password masking is still here. But, perhaps we can think in another direction. What if the current authentication concept (username&password) is just too old? I don’t know what will be the future of authentication. Maybe it will evolve to concepts like OpenID, biometric technology or will be based on some kind of certificates. Maybe we won’t wait long for some new concept to become a standard.
So, I am not sure if we really have a problem here?
What are your thoughts on this one?
